I would suggest that before making up your mind
you should yourself have a look at Sir David. I appreciate
the difficulty you feel in recommending a man of 66 for
work in the Far East, but in these days the field is apt to
be rather limited, and I really do not think you would go
far wrong in selecting Sir David, if he is willing to go.
Anyhow, I cannot think of anytody, who is available and whom I should prefer to the Dand.
